FILMEX 100 – All‑in‑One Steam Boiler Treatment
Product Details
- FILMEX 100 is a 90% active Ultra‑Concentrated All‑in‑One steam boiler treatment.
- FILMEX 100 is a FACT‑based product. Filming Amine Corrosion Technologies (FACT) components are organic polyamine‑based penetrating/corrosion control agents for multi‑metal corrosion inhibition. FACT works by penetrating and dispersing existing corrosion by‑products, cleaning the surface of metal oxides, then laying down a resilient and tenacious corrosion inhibitory film. FACT works quickly and effectively to stifle corrosion on surfaces ranging from iron, mild steel, galvanized steel, zinc, and aluminum, while providing partial protection for yellow metals.
- FILMEX 100 reduces corrosion from dissolved oxygen entrained in boiler feed water. When maintained in its proper control range, FILMEX 100 alleviates significant corrosion problems and failures associated with oxygen pitting in boilers. FILMEX 100, based on worldwide proven FACT chemistry, forms a molecular bond with surfaces to prevent corrosive oxygen from corroding the metal surface.
- FILMEX 100 is a more efficient boiler water treatment utilizing FACT and an organic oxygen scavenger, unlike sulfite‑based therapies, because it does not grossly contribute to dissolved solids or conductivity in the operating boiler.
- FILMEX 100 is far more resilient than competitive sulfite‑based products in that it does not require copious amounts of chemical product—sulfite reactions are 10:1 vs. dissolved oxygen!
- FILMEX 100 contains polymeric anti‑scalants and dispersants to control hardness‑scaling potential. Soft water makeup and high-quality condensate are always preferable, but when there is hardness leakage to the boiler, FILMEX 100 will prevent the short-term build-up of heat-transfer-robbing calcium salts.
- FILMEX 100 will disperse accumulated particulate scaling salts in the boiler. FILMEX 100 can disperse and remove phosphate, sulfate, and iron‑oxide corrosion deposits that may form or have accumulated in the lower‑flow areas of the boiler.
- FILMEX 100 also contains a blend of volatile neutralizing amine components to reduce condensate and steam‑line corrosion.
Application & Control
- Generally, FILMEX 100 is applied to the storage section of the de‑aerator or injected directly into the boiler feed‑water tank (below the water line).
- A reasonable starting‑point application rate for steam boilers operating at 10 cycles of concentration would be 10 ppm of FILMEX 100 per 1,000 gallons or 1 pound per 12,000 gallons of make‑up water to achieve 100 ppm FILMEX 100 present in the operating boiler. FACT product control in the boiler water typically ranges from 1 to 10 ppm. “P” alkalinity values of 300 ppm or more and/or minimum free hydroxide “OH” values of 200 ppm should be maintained in the boiler water. Condensate return pH control of 7.5–9.0 is recommended.
- Product control can be accomplished using one of the following: Go‑No‑Go Polyamine Test Method, or you can control FILMEX 100 with either a fluorescein probe or a spectrophotometric polymer test, maintaining 20–40 ppm total active polymers along with colorimetric pH testing of condensate return (Phenol or Cresol Red).
